so I woke up today and something was strange
something was off, feeling weird
couldn't put my finger on it
so I lingered on it
until you walked in the room
my heart started jumping, and thumpin’ and banging it’s own drum
and I started to play a tune
it went something like:
i hope you feel it too
this came out of the blue
should this feeling be true
it could be love
when I woke up today the world was crashing
down around me, feeling weird
couldn’t put my feet in your shoes
words misconstrued;
I need to listen better

today I splurged and bought myself a mobile telephone
no more waiting around next to the landline, chillin at home
fingertips itchin, the clock is tickin, sitting alone
i’m a modern man doing what i can
don’t want to be out of touch
screens, dank memes, and social streams
i’m just trying to keep up

later that day I purged and threw my phone into Lake Ontario
constant connection chasing perfection i just couldn’t take
it was always ringin, left my head spinnin, wanna be alone
it’s the modern age but it feels like a cage
looked down if you’re not doing much
defined by alphanumerics everything turns generic
it’s okay to not keep up
so if it’s seeds you’re sowin, but you’re not growin
